Step Twelve: The Finished Sculpture

Raven Steals the Moon
Along the northwest coast, sacred myths were passed down through the generations by storytellers and portrayed by special performers like this Tlingit dancer, acting out the legend of how Raven stole the constellations from a chief who kept them hidden away in three wooden boxes. He is wearing a valuable Chilkat robe that is made from woven wool and tree bark that has the pictorial story depicted in the weaving. He is also wearing the mask of the raven. The stone is Utah Alabaster.
